I installed xsane in an attempt to get scanning to work under linux with my HP Photosmart C4180 Q8110A. Printing works flawlessly with CUPs but I get this output when detecting the scanner:
Quote:
root@blackout ~# sane-find-scanner -q
found USB scanner (vendor=0x03f0 [HP], product=0x5711 [Photosmart C4100 series]) at libusb:001:005
root@blackout ~# scanimage -L
No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).

I saw on a couple supported hardware lists that the photosmart series wasnt supported but then I saw other places where people said they were scanning with them. So whats the story? Is it possible to scan with this printer under linux?
