I purchase an HP Pavilion dv1000 notebook a few years ago and it came with the digital media card reader on the side. At first I was loving it and was able to use it up until a card got stuck one day and when it was removed the prongs got all screwed up and now its causing my computer to shut down from time to time because it is interfering with the power.

So, my question is, can this part be replaced and if so, does anyone know the specific part number so I can go through HP to order it, or if not, does anyone know where I can go to get it? I cant find the part itself anywhere at all and I would like to purchase the part to take it in and get replaced. Can anybody help me please? Im only trying to keep my PC running good.

Since it is causing your computer to shutdown, it probably has an intermittent short. I think it should be easy to remove, and after removing it, there should be a part number on it that you can use in your search for a replacement. An email HP's customer support will probably provide an answer. Also take the part numbers you find and enter that into search at HP's website.
