Hp p2000

Hi!

I'll have to deal with a SAN (HP P2000) and would like to know how to administer it from linux.

How to do scanning of available LUNs? Associate them? Whatever!

Thanks in advance.

What Linux distribution and version?

How is it attached (iSCSI, Fibre)?

What brand of attachment is in your system (e.g. Broadcom for iSCSI network, Qlogic for Fibre)?

I think it will be FC. Don't know about the distro yet..... let's assume it's ubuntu or debian. How can I know the brand of attachment? Is there a comprehensive guide out there?

How you would know brand is you'd specify it when you bought the server. The HBA I'm talking about is the one in the server not in the array.

I'd think for your generic question the best way to go would be to check out the support documents for the HP P2000 itself. You could then examine the documentation from whichever vendor makes the HBA(s) you'll have in the server. The two main ones for fibre are Qlogic and Emulex.
