HP mini and Qualcomm Gobi

I have problem with built in 3g modem in HP mini 5101. It seems to be normal HP un2400 modem with qualcomm gobi chipset. It's supported by qcserial driver and works fine with gobi_loader. Problem is that after reboot it's upowered (this is probably new version of HP mini, not the one gobi_loader was written for). It can't be seen under linux (lsusb, dmesg, /sys/bus/usb/..., nowhere) nor windows (usb sniffing app shows it as 'not present'). After running HP Wirelles Assistant under windows this device becomes visible as plugged into normal USB hub (seen as 'Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub' in lsusb, the same hub is used for built in camera). After reboot it's gone. Does anyone have any idea how this could work? Some secret acpi call to the device? BIOS hack? Standard USB function I don't know about? What can I do under linux to try replicating this?

result of lsusb:
Bus 005 Device 002: ID 04f2:b159 Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 004 Device 002: ID 046d:c404 Logitech, Inc. TrackMan Wheel
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub

Chicony Electronics is the camera.
