Unhappy HP LaserJet 3100 installation problem

I'm new to Ununtu and Linux in general, tried to set up my HP laserjet 3000 by getting hplip-3.9.6b drivers; it now recognizes the printer and says that it's printing and then that printing is completed but I don't get anything to actually print out. I got LaserJet 3100 and Ubunto 9.04 installed. On the HP cite it said something about configure printer using CUSP or YaST which I completely ignored. Could that be the culprit? And if so which one to pick? If it's not the problem does anyone have any ideas? Thanks beforehand.

Yes, that's quite likely.

I'd pick CUPS (not *Cusp). It stands for Common Unix Printing System. It has a nice Web interface that makes configuration quite easy.
