Does anyone know wehere to download HP DVD writer 400C Drivers for Linux? I need the driver for linux to see the CD ROM to install the software.

Not sure I understand your question. What software are you trying to install?
This is an IDE device and no specical drivers are required to read a CD. However, you do have to mount the CD in order to see its contents. Was the drive installed when you loaded the OS?

In any case, it's well past time to install a current linux OS anyway. It will find your CD burner during the install...
