Unhappy HP Compaq Touchscreen not working

Hi!

I have a HP Compaq L2206tm USB touch screen here. It works right out of the box in windows XP SP3, no 3rd party drivers needed.

However, it doesn't in Fedora 17 and Mint 13. In fedora I get some output in dmesg stating it's a TPV OpticalTouchScreen whereas Mint doesn't say anything about it. I've also checked /dev/input and /dev/usbmonX and nothing there relates to the screen in both distros.

xinput doesn't list the screen either.

I went in XP and although the screen is brand new, I THINK XP uses some kind of generic driver made in 2001 so my guess is that it should also work in Linux in some way.

Anyone has some clue on what I could do to get it to work under Linux?

Thanks

This person got it working in this post but says that X-input 2.2 will be the next support.

I think this is to get the multitouch support in Qt. In my case, the touch feature of the screen just doesn't work. XOrg desn't seem to recognise the input device.

I use Fedora 17 so it already has XI 2.2
