try to see if you can configure it as a serial node (/dev/ttyS?) or has been configured already as one, then you can use any of the hyperterm emulators in linux to do the file transfers for you (cu, minocom..etc)

hello,
thanks for your reply,
the irda is already configured as ttyS1,
i never tried hyperterm emulators, but i'll try them right away,

can linux detect nearby computer with irda? just like windows, when there is a computer
nearby, then an icon will popup with a sound,

btw, the hyperterm emulators, can they be used to communicate between computer and cellphones
or pda?

thanks again for the answer,
faizal

i believe this link might be helpful to you:
http://www.hpl.hp.com/personal/Jean_...IrDA/IrDA.html

I did not use any drivers with my IrDa since I was developing a device driver for it at that time. But I'm sure there is one out there for linux

hello,
i've used irdadump, and my laptop recognizes the cellphone, and then i
used cat /proc/net/irda/discovery, so i know the address of my cellphone,
and by using irdaping address, i could ping to it

but now, how can i send files? i've tried openobex-apps (i can't find one
suitable for suse), by compiling the source, but i can't get the irxfer to
work (it doesn't even exist)

please help
thanks,
faizal
