How to use external speakers with HP D325?

Hello,

I've recently purchased this really awesome HP machine that includes Mandrake 9.2. Things seem to work very well - all sound comes from its internal speakers. However, I've tried plugging my external speakers into the machine, but there's no output. I assume there's a setting that I should change through KDE or Gnome - what settings should i modify to divert sound to my external speakers?

ah

I'm guessing you plugged them in through the headphone jack right?

If so, you'll prolly need to use kmixer to turn up the headphone sounds. They aren't turned up by default usually (at least not with ALSA)
