How to use Ataptec 2110 raid in custom build

I am using RH9 now, and I want to up to 2.6.8 kernel. When I compile new kernel, I've got wrong message " No module dpt_i2o found for kernel 2.6.8".
I hope someone can help me. I am a freshman in Linux. Thanks a lot!
