how to unmount unknown usb device?

Hello everyone, i am running debian sarge and i just installed vmware 5 + windows xp pro in vmware. I am trying to get a kds cd organizer to work within the xp vmware install but vmware says the device is being claimed by another driver (usbhid) on the host operating system. Does anyone know how i can disable the device in linux so it can be used in vmware? Thanks for the help in advance.
