how to scan using HP 2400 series?

I've got this HP 2410 printer/fax/scanner and would like to beable to scan from RH9. I can print with it. The only scan software I have is XSane and it doesn't see any devices. I discovered that I needed the hpoj driver. I got it and I believe I have installed it correctly(it acted like it was installing right and it added libsane-hpoj.so to the appropriate libs and running sane-find-scanner tells me that it sees the scanner) but still no go from xsane. Did I not do something right? To install I just ran ./config and then make and make install. Thanks.
