I believe the device is a USB serial port and is not mountable. The device ID should be /dev/ttyUSB0.
Try avrp -s /dev/ttyUSB0
For the curious the ATMEL AT89S52 is an 8 Bit microprocessor derivative of the Intel 8051. The 8051 was developed in 1980 and I have used them in many projects over the years.
avrp is the programmer application. If the above command does not work then there could be other reasons why you are having problems.
Does /dev/ttyUSB0 exist. If not post the output of the lsmod command.
Not sure what FTDI chipset this device uses but most modules should hopefully be included.
