How to mount an external USB HD?

My distro is a Suse 9.3, and I tried pluging an external USB Fujitsu HD. My distro didn't automount it, so I tried mounting it manually, but I have no idea of which hardware device should I use (hdx, sdx, tty, ...)?

Do a fdisk -l to see how it's listed. Usually its /dev/sda, but SuSE may do it differently.
