how to make work sound card

Hello,

after moving from RH9 to FC4, ma sound card doesn't play. Fom where should I start ?

I have Delle Inspiron 5150 and Intel Corp. 82801DB (ICH4) AC'97 Audio Controller.

Thanks.

I would start by running command 'lsmod | grep snd' to see if any sound modules are loaded. If that looks OK start up alsamixer in a terminal window and check that channels are unmuted and turned up.

I'm guessing your new setup is using ALSA, while your old one did not.

I have a dozen of 'snd' like this

snd_intel8x0m 19589 1
snd_intel8x0 34689 1

I run then alsamixer and unmute everything, but still nothing

it's weird because i can hear sound with headphones...

There is a similar problem (with solution) on this machine mentioned in:
