How to install the microsoft xbox pc gamepad?

Hello,

My kernel is the 2.6.18, and I would like to make this hardware working.

Where to get hte tar.gz, the driver to compile for my kernel, for hte 045e:0719?

Here are the driver info, when it is on a 2.6.30 kernel.

I would like to install the same driver on a 2.6.18 kernel. How to make it?

The Xbox controller (360 and original) require the "xpad" module, which has been in the stable kernel for quite some time. I don't think you would need any patches to get it in 2.6.18.

I am bit ashamed to ask it, but with drivers I am not knowing all tricks about modules.

How can I check it if it is working? I tried dgen and nothing. dmesg says that a usb is there , but no mention about xpad...

Well, you can't easily check if it is working but you can check if it is there with:

If it is not listed, then install it (as root) with:

Then try again.

So this is the wireless controller? Have you made sure that the controller and receiver have synced up?

I know support for the wireless controller receiver is somewhat spotty, but I have used it personally in the past so it should definitely work.

well. I installed on this old pc 2 kernels:
2.6.30 the gamepad works (cpu cycles as hell)
2.6.18 the gamepad not working

My pentium III is too slow for a 2.6.30 kernel. The cpu will die, cuz it is running full speed as crazy, very loudy fan, temperature... , that s why i have to install a new xpad.c file for a 2.6.18.

Is there a source code of newer version, same as in hte 2.6.30 kernel?

I found an installer

but the makefile is not working, it says that the tabs arent correct
