Post How to install new Sabrent SBT-SRD2 SATA RAID Linux setup?

Hello, everyone... Ive been finding a lot of information but it all seems to be outdated on this issue. I have a brand new Sabrent SBT-SRD2 SATA RAID card, and new 2x250GB Maxtor's I want to install in RAID 1 and then install SuSE 10.2 on. All the stuff is sitting at home, but I'm still at college 2 hrs away until Friday. I would like to get some sort of game plan ready before I get this going.

Does anyone have some sort of guidance on the overall process of installing these? I'm guessing I need to first set up the drives in RAID 1. But isn't that done on the BIOS of the card first? I'm worried about the quality of the directions :-p I haven't seen them yet. Then, should I be able to just go ahead with my SuSE installation? Or will I need to install some drivers or something first before I install? The card is based on some Silicon Images chipset, which I have yet to find on the internet, which one.

Any and all advice here is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Did you ever figure this out? I have the same raid controller, and my linux system isnt seeing my sata drive. The bios on the other hand does.

Some people say the SATA-VIA kernel module makes it work, others use PATA-SIL kernel module. Any news?

Thanks

how can i check this for you? to be honest, i don't know. Suse 10.2 installer took care of everything, if I remember correctly. Maybe all I had to do was make the array first, thru the bios deal... let me know what you want me to look at, and i'll gladly tell you.

Oh, nevermind, I did some tinkering, and updated my hard drives firmware (the one it came with was faulty), and everything works great!
