How to install Hauppauge WinTV PCI with Slackware 10

Hi!

I have a relatively fresh installation of Slackware 10.0 on my PC, and I'd like to run the Hauppauge WinTV PCI TV card. I've tried some HOWTO's, but I couldn't find much help on the net. Anybody can give me some hints on what to do? I don't even know wether I have video4linux or bttv or whatever is needed installed/activated. Help?

TIA,
Mik

Thanks for the link, I gave it a try, but it confused me.

I did find the modules the site is talking about - videodev.o, bttv.o, tuner.o - , but they were compressed .o.gz files, and even though I extracted them to their current directory (/lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drivers/media/video), modprobe won't "locate" them.

Any help?

hmm.. well if you type "/sbin/modprobe bttv.o"
I dont think it will work, unless they are loaded as modules from the kernel. So, POSSIBLY, if you dont want to rebuild your kernel. You could try loading them by:
"/sbin/modprobe /lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drivers/media/videobttv.o"

I would assume that would work. But I really doubt it since I guess they arent set as (M) in the kernel somewhere.

Sorry

Did you ever get this fixed? i'm working on the same thing with Suse 9.1. The only other thing i can think of is adding a line to
/lib/modules/2.4.26/modules.dep
which i'll try tonight unless anyone has a better idea...
