How to enable SBA and Fast Writes on nVidia cards

I'm using the 6106 nVidia driver on Debian Sid kernel 2.6,6. I have support for SBA and Fast Writes enabled but they're not enabled by default.

How do I go about enabling them? The readme doesn't say anything about it and I haven't been able to find help elsewhere.

Code:
/proc/driver/nvidia/agp/card
Fast Writes: Supported
SBA: Supported
AGP Rates: 4x 2x 1x
Registers: 0x1f000217:0x1f000104

/proc/driver/nvidia/agp/host-bridge
Host Bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8366/A/7 [Apollo KT266/A/333]
Fast Writes: Supported
SBA: Supported
AGP Rates: 4x 2x 1x
Registers: 0x1f000217:0x00000104

____________________________________________

/proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status
Status: Enabled
Driver: NVIDIA
AGP Rate: 4x
Fast Writes: Disabled
SBA: Disabled
Thanks.

You need to see if there's a setting in your bios to enable them. In my bios there's a setting to enable FW's but not SBA. If there is, turn them on (of course). If that's not the problem you can try adding "optons nvidia NVreg_EnableAGPFW=1 NVreg_EnableAGPSB=1" your /etc/modules.conf file.

Thanks for the help. I did turn them on in the BIOS settings already. (As you can see in my previous post.)

I ended up adding "optons nvidia NVreg_EnableAGPSB=1 NVreg_EnableAGPFW=1" to my otherwise empty /etc/modprobe.conf file and that seemed to do the trick.

2700 fps in glxgears on a AMD 1800XP+ with 1GB of a low end DDR RAM and a GeForce 4 Ti4200 128 MB. Is that good or bad or what? Too bad I didn't remember to check on glxgears before I enabled Fast Writes and SBA...

Anyways. I forgot to ask in my previous post about what it is exactly that SBA and Fast Writes do? I just heard saw so many people talking about it that I assumed it was something you'd want to have.

I am getting 4876 fps in the default glxgears window and 661 fps with glxgears fullscreen. That's on a Athlon 2500+ overclocked to 2104mhz, 512mb ddr 2700 overclocked to 3200, and a Ti4600. I don't know what SBA does, but FW's allows the video card to communicate directly with the memory, instead of having to go through the processor first. As far as needing them, that is highly debatable. I have seen comparisons of before and after using both and the results were so small that it really doesn't seem to matter one way or the other. However, a bunch of small tweaks adds up to a big tweak. Sometimes though FW's can cause system instability, so keep that in mind if you start having problems.
