How to configure the master and slave on 5 Sata disks?
Hello,
How to configure the master and slave on 5 Sata disks? Is there that or it is automatic. I install Debian, ok, master boot ok, on the first sata. And at reboot, just after install, the boot hangs and no grub appears. Any ideas? I tried with only a single Sata disk plugged into the pc, and still similar no boot :( |
Did you install grub to the mbr? If so, it sounds like grub got installed to one of the other 4 drives, not the correct one (the one with the debian install). Try reinstalling grub with only the drive you want plugged in.
EDIT: AFAIK SATA doesn't rely on master/slave jumper settings or cable positions, master/slave drives (more accurately drive order) are defined in the BIOS. |

Should be, but since the OP was unplugging drives already, thought it couldn't hurt. ;)
