How to configure the master and slave on 5 Sata disks?

Hello,

How to configure the master and slave on 5 Sata disks?
Is there that or it is automatic.

I install Debian, ok, master boot ok, on the first sata.
And at reboot, just after install, the boot hangs and no grub appears.

Any ideas?

I tried with only a single Sata disk plugged into the pc, and still similar no boot :(

Did you install grub to the mbr? If so, it sounds like grub got installed to one of the other 4 drives, not the correct one (the one with the debian install). Try reinstalling grub with only the drive you want plugged in.

EDIT: AFAIK SATA doesn't rely on master/slave jumper settings or cable positions, master/slave drives (more accurately drive order) are defined in the BIOS.

Wouldn't changing the order of drives in BIOS be enough?

Should be, but since the OP was unplugging drives already, thought it couldn't hurt. ;)
