No idea what you're asking. What "problem of modem" are you having? Won't dial? Was working/now isn't? You don't say what kind of modem, on what kind of system. Laptop 'soft' modems act and behave differently than desktop PCI modems which are different from USB/Serial.
If you want to 'check' it, run minicom...point it at your modem device, and try to dial using the standard AT commands.
