How to change trip points

I have a nx6325 (EY344Et#AK8] runnig debian sid kernel-version 2.6.22-2-k7.

I want to change my the trip points beacuse my cpu gets very hot, i have tried several tutorials how to do it, but I haven't got it to work

This is my current thermal settings
Code:
cat /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/TZ1/trip_points
critical (S5): 105 C
passive: 95 C: tc1=1 tc2=2 tsp=100 devices=C000 C001
active[0]: 75 C: devices=C364
active[1]: 65 C: devices=C365
active[2]: 55 C: devices=C366
active[3]: 16 C: devices=C367
I want to lower the active [2], [1] and [0] 10 degrees C.

Echo colon separated values into it like this 'echo n:n:n:n:n:n > /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/TZ01/trip_points'. Note that on my box it only shows two values and the threshold gets changed by using the first and third value (ex: echo 90:n:70:n:n:n > /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/TZ01/trip_points). Some experimenting with sane values should show how yours handles things. On the point of values I'd be careful setting the first one too high and the second one too low. AFAIK the first one is the temperature threshold in centigrade for shutting down the box and the second value (my example) the point where throttling kicks in.

I have tried that, and it doesn't work.

Did you echo the values (and cat the key to see if it stuck) as root user?

This is what i did, as root.
Code:
echo 105:95:60:50:40:16 > /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/TZ1/trip_points
cat /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/TZ1/trip_points
critical (S5): 105 C
passive: 95 C: tc1=1 tc2=2 tsp=100 devices=C000 C001
active[0]: 75 C: devices=C364
active[1]: 65 C: devices=C365
active[2]: 55 C: devices=C366
active[3]: 16 C: devices=C367
I also tried with this and also whitout 105

Some more information about my problem.

Sometimes when I echo the values to trip_points i just accepts it, but it doesn't change, but sometimes i get this error
Code:
 echo 105:95:60:50:40:16 > /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/TZ1/trip_points
bash: echo: write error: Invalid argument
I get the same error if I echo the current values.

this is what my /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/TZ1/* looks like
Code:
<setting not supported>
<polling disabled>
state: active[3]
temperature: 52 C
critical (S5): 105 C
passive: 95 C: tc1=1 tc2=2 tsp=100 devices=C000 C001
active[0]: 75 C: devices=C364
active[1]: 65 C: devices=C365
active[2]: 55 C: devices=C366
active[3]: 16 C: devices=C367
the first value is from cooling_mode
If I change the polling value to 1, /proc/acpi/thermal_zone/TZ1/temperature stops updating.

Also, I've noticed that when the fans change to a higher active mode the value active value mode drops 5 C. Could it be that I have to supply more values, install something more or change something in some config?
