How to activate a HSF modem?
I am running Fedora 2.6.11 FC4 and I am trying to activate my HSF modem. I have the generic driver which I downloaded from Linuxant.com... When I 'make' the driver, it all goes smooth, until the end. I get "Error. Hsf driver not active"
Any Suggestions... |
why did you choose generic driver?
try to use the driver that most suitable to your distro & kernel architecture. http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/full/downloads.php |
I had to use the generic driver because I am running Fedora FC4-x86_64... The driver is listed at the bottom of your link.

Make sure your modem is seated firmly in the PCI slot. Type lspci to see whether an entrry such as "Communication Controller" exists.
And i think u need to run a program called 'hsfconfig' after u hav compiled the drivers. To see where it resides type locate hsfconfig it will guide u thru the rest of the setup. FYI, hsfconfig is bundlled with the drivers. |
When I use the hsfconfig, everything goes fairly smooth... But at the end I get:
"Error: HSF driver not active" What seems to be the problem is that my driver cannot find my modem... It is very odd, because every my modem is recognized everywhere else...(lspci) I donno... |
You need to see whether your driver is looking atthe right place.

How do I do that...

I am having the exact same problem with my hsf conexant modem under suse 10. 64bit!
Have u came up with any solution? |
Ya... DSL...
I tried everything in the world to get a pci modem to work. I bought 2 different types and I could not get either of them to work... Finally I gave up and switched to DSL... Oh well... If you do get it to work, I would appreciate it if you would let me know... Thanks... |
