How i can configure my broadband modem in linux red hat 9

I have a brodband connection (cable net) and i want to use my net connection in Linux red hat linux so plz guide me how i can configure my net in linux

What kind of cable modem is, and how is it assigning IP addresses? Usually, so long as your network card is correctly configured and set to receive details via DHCP, cable modems just work without any special configuration.
