How does raid work when I drive goes bad?
I have 2 drives as raid 1, how does raid work when I drive goes bad? Do I just hook a brand new drive up and it automatically mirrors the data from the first drive over? Or do I have to rebuild the array.
How does that work with the boot sector? |
Usually if 1 drive blows, you replace it with a new one and some raid cards start automatically, some you have to give a command for them to start. With some LSI raid cars, on 2.4 kernel, it works like a champ and everything is auto but when we use 2.6 kernel, we have to do it manually.
