thanks...im going to try to get the information

b0r 02-21-2005 10:33 AM

ok the route -n is

Kernel IP routing table

Destination Gateway Gnmask Flags metric ret use Iface
127.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 V 0 0 0 lo

and the Resolv.conf is

Search example.net

Thats all it says.

hi there

i see that there is no confg of ur NIC, maybe u should go about configring ur NIC

u can set the options in ur NIC by using
"netconfig" in slackware

b0r 02-21-2005 03:32 PM

ok..ill try netconfig...in root...ill get back to you..thanks.

b0r 02-21-2005 04:26 PM

there is all the info u requested....hope it works out...thanks for all the help and time

masand 02-22-2005 03:34 AM

hi there

what are u missing is ur default gateway

for that just the IP od ur ISP
u must be having that from windows

and run this

route add default gw <ur ISP IP address>

also u need to put correct nameserver in /etc/resolv.conf

for that u can start ur own DNS server
put this in ur /etc/resolv.conf

nameserver 127.0.0.1

and start ur named service

also this is just the start man,so do not get frustated from linux

At the very least, state your net hardware. Really hard to help out without some details!
