How do you change the refresh rate for your monitor?
Red Hat 9

not sure exactly but it should be somewhere in the XF86Config or XF86Config-4 file located in /etc/X11/
if u play with those files i recommend changing your default runlevel to 3 in /etc/inittab and using startx incase u fudge sumthing up, and also make backup copies of those files. a good way to regenerate XF86Config files also is to boot up a knoppix CD and let it generate one for u, save them to floppy, and put them in the X11 directory (i did this for my gentoo install). |
In the monitor section of XF86Config-4 you can add:
VertRefresh 50-75 HorizSync 30-80 for example - check the real figures from your monitor handbook as you can destroy it using the wrong numbers. Euan |

Hi everyone,
I'm using Mandrake 9.1 and I have the same problem of PDog. The limits in my XF86Config-4 are set to the right values, but I can't change refresh rate for my monitor; I actually run 1280x960@85Hz but I know I can set 1280x960@100Hz. I tried to understand something on the modelines, but man pages say I have to know some specific rates that are not reported in the monitor manual nor on the manifacturer web site. Does someone know how I can determine that ? My monitor is SONY CPD-G400 Thank you |
