How do I use dial-up using Mandrake 10.1?

Hi everyone and a Hapy New Year!
Please bear with my for I am a noob and am desperately trying to sort out a linux machine.

I have been running mandrake 10 and using a networked PC with a shared internet connection.

I have just bought a US Robotics modem off of ebay (CANT PASTE URL AS THE SITE WONT LET ME YET) but i believe the model is: USR015630B, or USR995630B

I wanted to dial-up to the net directly from my machine using this modem, which I understand to be a hardware modem and hence compatible with linux.

Using a madrake help page i googled, apparently I have to use a DUN program called KPPP, but I have checked everywhere on my mandrake 10.1 installation and cannot find it anywhere. Obviously I have checked under networking, settings and the like...

If anyone can help, i will be eternally grateful. I have fallen in love with Mandrake and would like to have this machine capable of browsing the net independently of my windows machine. PLease bear in mind I am very new to the linux cause and might not understand the lingo just yet!

Thanks

Hi there,

KPPP is in the gnome desktop version of M10.1. Try looking under "internet". I will check it once I get back to my Linux. (Currently using Windows because Linux does not like my modem

actually I just found it on gnome and configured the dial up. It found the modem and dialled but hung up!

How do I get around this??

I also much prefer KDE, so does anyone know how to use kppp or equivalent with KDE?

SORTED!

USed harddrake in kde to auto detect the modem and then played around with kppp. It was trying to use mnt/modem, but i changed it to look at the serial port and all seems well now. I'm using the Dial-up to type this... yay!
