how do i turn off vsync?

Hi! I have a Nvidia graphic card (nvidia geforce 4 ti4200), and i want to turn off vsync. I did this at on my friends windoze-box today, and games got better fps because of this.

So how do i turn off vsync? here is part of my XF86Config-4 config:

Code:

Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "monitor1"
    VendorName "Generic"
    ModelName "1024x768 @ 70 Hz"
    HorizSync 31.5-57.0
    VertRefresh 50-70

    # Sony Vaio C1(X,XS,VE,VN)?
    # 1024x480 @ 85.6 Hz, 48 kHz hsync
    ModeLine "1024x480"    65.00 1024 1032 1176 1344  480  488  494  563 -hsync -vsync

    # TV fullscreen mode or DVD fullscreen output.
    # 768x576 @ 79 Hz, 50 kHz hsync
    ModeLine "768x576"    50.00  768  832  846 1000  576  590  595  630

    # 768x576 @ 100 Hz, 61.6 kHz hsync
    ModeLine "768x576"    63.07  768  800  960 1024  576  578  590  616
EndSection

Section "Device"
    Identifier "device1"
    VendorName "NVidia"
    BoardName "NVIDIA GeForce4 (generic)"
    Driver "nvidia"
    Option "DPMS"
Option "NvAGP" "3"
Option "DigitalVibrance" "0"
EndSection

Help is much appreciated :)

export _GL_SYNC_TO_VBLANK=0

It will cause tearing but if FPS is all your concerned about thats it. Mostly its turned of anyway so low FPS could be a problem with the driver rather than this.

i.e if your already getting more FPS than your monitor ( more than 70 at 1024x768 ) Then your FPS have nothing to do with VSYNC.

Hmm, where do i put "export _GL_SYNC_TO_VBLANK=0" ?

I tried googling it and found nothing. Should i put that line in XF86Config-4 or something?

Thanks again

No you type it into a console. If you read the Nvidia readme all the details are there.
