How do I tell where my drive is?

I have a USB drive that I was able to mount on /dev/sda1. However, to get my transfer speeds up I want to use it's ieee1394 interface. The only problem is I don't know how the ports on the front of the pc relate to sda, sdb, sdc etc. Is there any way to tell?

Thanks

think it depends on the sequence (other) devices are plugged in!?!

...but plug ur stick in and look how it is recognized

Does that mean that all my USB and Firewire devices will be on /dev/sda? or can they also occur on /dev/sdb? ?

think so, on my box the first usb-device plugged in becomes sda.
independent from the usb slot
