How do I install my Epson RX620 3-in-1 in Mepis

I have the printer part working fine but haven't a clue how to make the scanner work. I can make copies just fine but can't scan anything into the hard drive. I have Mepis and Suse on my computer but Suse won't load it because it said the iscan isn't available except for i386 and I have i686. I thought maybe I'd have better luck with Mepis. Plain english please since I'm pretty new to this. Thanks. Ruth
