How do I install a Soundcard?

Hi, I have a Soundblaster 16/AWE-32 compatible soundcard that I would like to configure correctly, but I'm not sure which program to use. I'm using KDE, and I know the IRQ and I/O address that the sound card is using. I've looked around the KDE help files but haven't been able to find any specific information on how to properly install a sound card. Also, when I start KDE, I get a sound card error message right off the start. Any advice or help would be great.

If you're using a Red Hat based distro, then you should almost definitely have the util sndconfig either installed already, or on your install CD. It takes the pain out of configuring ISA sound cards.

Good luck.
