how do I exclude memory from driver use?

I'm trying to get my MA401 wireless working -- I have other posts specifically on that issue.

This addresses a subsidiary problem -- I think I need to exclude some memory. The pcmcia-cs/orinoco drivers consistently mess up some of my configuration files making it impossible to log into linux. (Not an acceptable circumstance).

A post I saw mentioned another user had the same problem and solved it by "excluding" an area of memory. I understand I can exclude memory in /pcmcia/config.opts.

But -- how do I figure out what memory to exclude?

Thanks.
