How can I access Bios from console ?

I have serveral servers running on Asrock motherboards, P4VM800 for example. I was looking for a way to turn servers on remotely when an unespected power failure occurs, what i found so far is the "Restore on AC/Power Loss".

I need to change this option on my servers, but i have no physical access to them... is there some way to change bios values remotely (ie. from console)?

Everything I've read leads me to believe that it requires a hardware change. Some servers offer add in cards that allow redirection over ethernet, or third party products may allow something similar.

A quick google also came up with this product: http://www.rose.com/datasheet/ultramatrixremote.pdf

Also this thread http://lists.debian.org/debian-isp/2.../msg00054.html

You might google your motherboard and see if it has this capability built in...

I am not aware of any method of remotely accessing a system's BIOS. The only way I'm familiar with is to have physical access to the machine, and to press a particular key during boot up (eg, Del or F2 or whatever).

I believe that access to BIOS is intentionally restricted, due to the potential for malicious mischief causing major system havoc.
