How big is your desktop's monitor?
 

I am thinking of getting a 24" LED monitor,
would it be too big?

I am using a 27" inch monitor and consider getting a second (may be smaller) one.

I have a 19 inch CRT for one desktop and a 23 inch tablet (it was a gift) here side-by-side.

The tablet is gorgeous. I use it for watching old television shows while I visit LQ on the 19 inch.

I actually do most of my routine computer on a 15 inch laptop.

If you have the room, no, I wouldn't think 27 inches is too big, especially if you are writing code or HTML and testing output on the same screen.

42" diagonally. 1920x1080 resolution VGA.

I have several 27" and several 24" monitors on hand and have decided the 24-inchers are the best size for my own needs and viewing habits.

1. Watch movie? Do it with TV, not computer.
2. Not playing games, no need big screen monitor, 24~27" are too big.

Agree or not?

2. You don't need to be a player to appreciate the benefits of bigger monitors. Tiling windows managers seems more functional with large screens. I have 2 x 24" monitors (1920x 1200 each)

1. I don't watch TV in general, so I don't have a TV. A 27" inch monitor is fine for watching movies.
2. Screen size is good for work also, not only for gaming. Imagine you can have several windows side by side instead of being forced to switch between them using your task-switcher. Much better workflow.

My point is, ... as long as you like it, can afford it, and it fits where you put it,... who cares?!?!

If I buy a Samsung 47" LED Full HD TV,
I just linked it to my notebook thru HDMI cable,
using wireless mouse and keyboard,
and use the TV as my monitor,
sitting on Sofa in front of it,
to surf internet and watching TV.

HDMI?!?! Probably not,... There's usually overscan. You want to go VGA (if the machine supports it). Although some Samsung TVs (and some other brands) can turn off the overscan (or be modded to do it). Just watch the native resolution of the TV,... Many are only 1366x768, not true 1920x1080...

Same as my own 24-inchers and I definitely prefer that resolution over the 1920 x 1080 models that I've previously had.

Yes, I also prefer it to 1080. I don't watch HD films so 1200 suites me better.

You definitely do not want to go for VGA for high resolutions. You will get much better quality from DVI/HDMI/DP.
