Help! Wrong monitor selected? cant run x-config or a xstart

Im using Redhat 9 on a acer 4150 laptop. Its all install fine. I selected generic lcd monitor during installation, and my graphics card driver as something like Intel 750 (generic) because it didnt have a listing for mine (Intel 900).
Now i cant run a xstart or x-config to fix it as they complain about wrong monitor.
i have very very little experience with linux, thats what this installation is sposed to be for! So i need to somehow edit some settings somewhere to change my monitor and/or graphics card drivers. I've seen a few guides say go to /etc/x11 but that directory doesnt exist for me
So if anyone can help me, i'll need to know even the commands of how to open a text editor to change any edit any settings :( Im great with general computer concepts but when it comes to linux im a ultra beginner.

Please help!

i think you can reconfigure the settings in text mode, type xf86config, xorg or something similar to reconfigure your card and monitor from the command line, it will prompt you for inputs and you do not have to use text editor.

Also remember that Linux commands are case sensitive.
/etc/X11/xorg.conf
/etc/X11/Xf86config-4

/etc/x11 is not the same as /etc/X11
