Help with Xinerama. NVIDIA & Voodoo 3 Card
 
Hi, I have having so major problems getting my second graphics card to work at all. I have now had to use the original XF86Config file to get back my NVIDIA monitor working. Could someone please tell me how i get the Voodoo card working please... I know the Drinver is "tdfx"

I have included the config file here, so if anyone could edit it for me that would be cool. If not could someone explain how i get the second card working!

Im also using RH9. If you need anymore info let me know.

I have also read the man pages and countless howtos :study:

Anyhelp would be greatfully apreciated. :newbie:

please list your system specs... I'm a little confused, you have a voodoo 3 but you're using the geforce 4 driver?

Hi, Ok.... I have 2 graphics cards. 1 is a NVIDIA card and the other is a Voodoo 3 Card.

I have my NVIDIA card working and i wish to get my Voodoo 3 card working to so i can have 2 deskops on 2 diffretn monitors, using the 2 diffrent cards.

My computer is Intel P4 2.6Ghz with 60GB and 20GB HD on RAID1 with 1GB of memory.

I am unsure of xfree86's support for that... Can't you just have your nvidia card use dual monitors?

Hi, There is support for this in Redhat, its using the Xinerama extention... I have had this working before, but i reinstalled RH last night and have forgotton how to do this.

My NVIDIA card only has one output for a monitor so i would be unable to have it connected to 2 monitors.

If this is a fresh install, try plugging both video cards in and then doing a redhat install, that might help with getting them both set up. Also, the voodoo3 should be pretty much plug-in and play, when you plug it in what happens?

Well when i plug it in it just tells me its going to configure it, and then it does nothing, and the config file above stays the same.

I know the card works because i took the NVIDIA card out and boot linux with just the Voodoo card in it.
