Help with presario v3000z audio/modem

I just got the v3000z notebook from compaq and need to get the modem working in it. I have just moved and my only option at this point is dial up. From what I have found, which is very little, I think that the modem and sound work off of the same driver which I think is the snd_intel8x0. This is what everything has led to and the modules load perfect no errors at all, but they do not work. My sound does not work and as far as I can tell my modem isn't even detected. I have posted my lspci output below and if you need my kernel config just ask and I can email it to you, I would post it but it is too many characters. If someone can point me in the direction of getting this working you will be my hero. It sucks having an awesome laptop and it not work.

Also I am running gentoo with gentoo-sources-2.6.15-r5

Thanks

lspci:

I'm not sure your assessment of the driver is right. I don't see any intel stuff listed, only nVidia CP51. I'd check the nVidia website for drivers for that chipset. Looks like you have an AMD64, so I'd try these drivers.

I have tried those drivers, in fact that is what I am using to get my NIC working, but as far as the modem... nothing.

I did get a hold of HP today to get windows drivers because mine were wiped with the system to put linux on it and apperantly they don't ship drivers disk anymore, but that is another story. The driver they gave me was for a conexant soft modem. So I was like cool I will go to linuxant and get the drivers for it, but when I used the modem check util it showed up with nothing so tomarrow I am going to look more into that.

As far as the sound goes, I have the same laptop, and the sound driver I'm using is the snd-hda-intel. The funny thing about this driver is the fact that the headphones plug doesn't work, but the speakers do.

Sorry I should have posted saying that I got my sound working, but those are the drivers I finally found that work with it. As far as the modem I still havn't gotten it to work. I have narrowed it down to being a conexant hsf modem, but I can't seem to get the drivers from linuxant to work. So I am still in a hole with that.
