Question help! system halts while partition check during startup

The main question is how to disable the partition check for one drive during startup when disk drives are detected?

The problem is because of unallocated space "partition" on my 2nd hd drive (no bootable partitions containing) which contains ~1GB of space wasted by bad blocks. All is going ok when i physically remove that hdd, but when it presents system halts! The question is how to disable partition check for this drive?
Is there another solution?

Make a copy of /etc/fstab as root:

cp /etc/fstab /etc/fstab.sav.20030825

Now edit /etc/fstab and comment out or remove the line concerning the hard drive you want to go "unnoticed."

Reboot.

Mout the drive by hand with the mount command.

Cheers--

Thumbs down

No it isn't in /fstab, i actually not mounted any partitions of that drive. The error appears (i tried under ALT Linux 2.2 and Slackware 9.0) during partition check after the hardware (disk devices) detected. I've created the FAT partition on wasted space (not even checked by ScanDisk) but it seems still not working The hd drive is IC35L060 (IBM, 60Gb)!
