Help?? Start to Finish for dummies adding new HD to LVM

Hello I am a semi knowledgable noob. I thought everything was doin pretty well until I tried to tackle this LVM stuff. I have a general idea of whats goin on. I just need to know how to go from start to finish into adding a new HDD to an existing system. Here is my setup as follows:

Ok nevermind i got it. I now have 2 physical volumes attached to VolGroup00 279GB each
How do i make them as 1 drive

I did my pvcreate, vgextend, and lvextend commands.

What is next

Got it

Ok I think I got it. I had no idea about LVM when I first started this. Now thru extensive reading I have got a moderate understanding of it. I need to do the resize2fs but unfortunately I only have 3 partitions on the boot drive. /boot, /swap, and / which fills the rest of the space. Inorder to resizefs to match my new 558 GB logical volume size / must be ummounted and since this makes me extremely nervous I am going to start from scratch and properly partition /home directory taking the rest of the space and only allowing about 4 GB for everything else. That way I can unmount while still in the OS without any funny stuff.

Thanks
KC
