Help Regarding Motherboard for Core 2 Duo Processor.

Hi Everyone,

I am in process of Upgrading my CPU to Core 2 Duo.

At this moment, I am not able to decide to which motherboard I should go for, which provide good/excellent support to linux?

Can you please help me out which motherboard will be best suited for Core 2 duo for optimum performance?Intel,Asus,Gigabyte etc...?

Thanks,
Anant

P.S: I am running Debian Etch on my 6 years old P4 1.7 GHz with 256 MB SDRAM.

My suggestion is get one WITHOUT a JMicron SATA controller, any brand you mentioned should be fine. Make sure the board supports Core 2 as well, some do not even though the specs look like it could support it ... strange but true.
