Angry Help ! my laptop speaker is a microphone

I just installed Mandrake 9.2 on a sony picturebook. The sound card a yamaha YMF-754. When mandrake boots the speakers become microphones and crank ou all kinds of screeching feedback unless I plug in a headset into the headset jack.
