Help me set some stuff up in suse 9.3

OK first of all i want to let you know i am a nooby in linux so don't assume i know anything.
The first thing I need help setting up is my sound card. I have an audigy 2 which is audio device [1] and onboard sound for my msi neo platium 2 motherboard this is audio device [0].
I have managed to get the onboard sound to work though it sound a bit dodgy but my speakers are connected to the audigy so i need that working. In the volume setting in yast both cards work when tested but in the control centre only the onboard sound works. It seem to me that I need to set the audigy 2 to be the default sound card or something.

The second thing I need help setting up is my TV tuner card its a nebula electronics digitv pci card. I have the KDE TV tuner app installed and I have a guide on how to get the card running under linux http://www.nebula-electronics.com/su...ux_install.asp perhaps someone can help me work out which parts of it I need to do under suse 9.3.

Next I was wondering if it was possible to get my USB creative webcam working its an NX ultra.

Next I need help getting my scanner to work. Its a all in one device a HP photosmart 2710 and its connected over a network. I managed to get the printer side to work but not sure about the scanner.

Finally I want to know how to access my windows network so I can share files.

Oh and how do you get ndiswrapper to load on boot?

First of all, you should _really_ use relevant thread name. The "I have a problem help me" style doesn't tell people much info about your problem, it turns away most readers actually.

Second, you shouldn't ask about 6 problems not related to each other in the same thread... do you think it will be a total mess up in there after the third post? If you need to ask several questions in the same thread (you rarely do), at least numerotate your question.

Whatever...

1- You have to edit the soundcard part in /etc/modules.conf and to make sure your audigy card is first ( snd-card-0 ) instead of your onboard card. Take a look in there, I can't really help you more than that I have no idea what your modules.conf look like... consider posting it there.

2- The address you gave us is about patching the kernel source and recompilation. Kernel recompilation isn't related to your choice of distribution so these instructions will be right for you... however, recompiling a kernel is somewhat a complex task, I'm not sure you want to try this.

3- Don't know this cam model. Search on google. you will find this out.

4- I never played with a network scanner... I suggest you to search http://www.sane-project.org/ a bit for documentation or about an howto. Their documentation is quite outdated but you may be lucky.

5- "how to access my Windows network" is a confusing sentence. You probably mean you want to access your windoze shared folders ( please don't call it "windows network" the term is nothing but a confusing mistake). All you need to do is to install samba (you probably already have it) then you will be able to mount your windoze shared folder using "smbmount" command. Try : smbmount -o username="your_windoze_user" //your_windoze_box_name/your_shared_folder /mnt/where/you/want/it

6- I don't really know Suse, it is hard for me to answer... look if you have a file named "local" or "rc.local" in /etc/init.d/ . If so, this is probably the last boot script to be executed at boot. You could place your ndiswrappr commands there. Thus, you better ask a real Suse user, I don't even know if you have these files. Or if you want to make it "elegant" search about Suse bootscript, you might be able to find some instructions about how to make your own bootscript and to add it the boot sequence.

Scanner

Go to System==>YaST==>Hardware==>Scanner

See if YaST auto detects the scanner. HP really supports Linux. There should be specific scanner driver installation instructions for HP devices. I have an HP 1350 All-in-one. This is how I configured the scanner. After you load the drivers, go to Graphics==>Scanning. An application named Kooka will open asking if your scanner is the device you want Kooka to use. You'll see from there.

Good Luck.
