Help in Installing sm56 Modem
Hai,
Please Help me as I am puzzled . I have installed redhat linux 7.1. I could not find an RPM like sm56 which is the driver for my modem. What should I do ? Can I get the sm56 package from the net and Install? . Or If I get the package, Do I able to install ie Is the package absent because the kernel does not support it? I heared that RH linux 7.1 supports motorola chipset win modems my other version of kernel which is RH linux 7.1 provides this. I does not like to install this because this is the pc quest magazine's free version . So I do not want to see their logo instead of the RH logo. So please help me. My kernel version is 2.4.2 and I think the exact OS version is 7.0.7 |
Hi,
This is off the top of my head and maybe wrong, but... RH Linux, AFAIK, does not support win modems 'out of the box', this is to do with gnu/open-source/proprietry code issues. For a bit of reading and maybe an RPM check out the following link: www.linmodems.org Good luck auslew |
just search on google... motorola sm56 linux driver and u'll find it....try to install it and then tell me if it worked...cuz i can't get it to work on slack 8.1
