help for a mouse

hi all,

i am a total newbie, and after many months of persasion by a mate, have gone with it, and installed madrakelinux 10.1. to free from another batch of trojans horses and worms on windows.

But now i go and install, my mate goes away on holiday doh, murphys law, and i have a problem

the install goes perfect, configuure everything, mouse works fine, but when it reboots , i can only log in as a user not as the administrator, and more annoyingly, my mouse wont work, i have tried a genius ps2 , and a labtec, usb optical, but the same on both.

i reinstalled, reconfigured at the page buttons worked, wheel worked just when logging on after reboot nothing on themouse functions.

i read about the configuration changes an login, but how do i change it, with just a keyboard for company, i cannot find any refernece to that.

any help would be really appreciated .

many thanks from a

G.

i tried 2 mouse, a genius netscroll through normal ps2 connection, and a labtec optical mouse on usb,

when setting up they configured fine, and tested ok on the test page, but whe i reboot and subsequent boot up, the dont work at all, the optical one is all light but the cursor wont ove a bit.
