Help finding Sabrent USB-DSC9 *nix compatible equivalent

Hey everybody,

Long time no see.

Like the title says: I need help finding something equivalent to a Sabrent USB-DSC9 that will run on *nix.

I know there are a million ways to do this. But I'm looking for cheap and easy. The thing I like about the Sabrent USB-DSC9 is that it has the PSU built in. That will save me a lot of hassles.

I'm trying to avoid the swap out game and go easy peasy w/o having to bring doze in to the mix.

Any suggestions?

Looks like the StarTech equivalent is supposed to work with linux but it costs more...

Steven_G,

In the Amazon customer feedback for the Sabrent-USB-DSC9:

Quote:

This device is O/S independent. It basically turns a SATA or IDE device (hard drive or CD ROM) into a USB 2.0 device. So long as your LINUX distro supports the format of the hard drive you are attempting to access, it will work fine.

One would think so but as an example their model USB-DSC8 USB IDE/SATA adapter was known not to work with Macs. I did not look at that many reviews to see if any were specific to linux.

I've used a StarTech IDE adapter that will allow an IDE drive to plug into an existing drive dock, which has worked fine with some NTFS and older linux drives connected to a Fedora 25 computer via a Rosewill dock. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
