HDMI for video only (audio out optical)
Simple or headache? I'm using a VGA cable to my projector now on my HTPC, but would like to switch to HDMI to eliminate some shadowing in the picture. I have an older AV receiver and it is receiving audio via optical spdif. Everything works great now. Will I run into issues with the pc trying to send audio through the HDMI? Or will I be fine?
Distro: ubuntu 13.04 Media center: XBMC (current) Audio card: Intel onboard audio Video card: NVidia GT220 (VGA | HDMI | DVI ports) Asking first before I buy the cable and run it through my walls. |
I dont see any problems coming up. You should just have to turn the volume of the hdmi output down and crank the spdif up.

Thanks man. :)
