hd problem (propably)

Hi there,
once uppon a time my linux box got suspend (!!)... (propably cos of my fault but still...), i had to swich off power suply and after rebooting i've missed confirmation of running fsck and after login i've noticed that most of my conf was gone ... most apps run in to default options ... even network is down (but it works for sure (under window$).

how can i check and fix errors on my hdb1 drive ??

ive tried to run : linux rescue from some boot disk. i got an error saying sth like that: "not all your partitions could be mounted" .
but it let me get to command line and run:
fsck.ext3 /mnt/sysimage/dev/hdb1 - but i got an error that: device not found...

what else can i do ??

cheers in advance

First of all, DO NOT mount any devices that you plan to run fsck on. When checking them, leave out the /mnt/sysimage from your fsck command. i.e.:

Code:
fsck.ext3 /dev/hdb1

thx for v.fast reply

but when im booting through : linux rescue it mounts whole exsisting system partition under /mnt/sysimage/

and when im running fsck.ext3 /dev/hdb1 - i got almost the same error (sorry but cant remember now what it was - sth about that it cant find fstab file - propably coz of it is under /mnt/sysimage/etc/fstab ...)

Well just unmount them then Running fsck on mounted filesystems is a dangerous thing to do. You might end up messing your filesystem completely (if it's even possible to fsck them).
