Having problem getting higher resolutions with nVidia Corporation C51 GeForce 6150LE

Ive been googling this problem for quite a while now, and finally decided to signup and make a post or threadwhatever.

Im currently using an hp slimware amd 64 duo core chip and installed kubuntu. since installation i havnt been able to get resolutions of 1280x1024 as i can do in windows. the highest resolution setting i can have this on is @ 1152*864. normally it starts up automatically at 1024*768 or whatever and i have to go into the nvidia tool in settings to manully select this resolution.
through that tool it would not let me save the current settings to xconf.
so everytime i boot up i always have to change the resolution setting.

i installed envying a few days ago and had it install my nvidia drivers. i got the same result. i also try sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xconfig or something like that and i never get a video option during that thing.. i just get asked bout my keyboard.

also my alt+tab function has ceased workin as well :/ should i just reinstall kubuntu? if so how should i do it?

thanx in advance!

May be the Linux nvidia driver doesn't allow for a higher
resolution but ' 1152 x 864 ' with the used monitor ?

To keep a set resolution, please do :

sudo nvidia-settings

.. An ordinary user cannot make a permanent change,
only a temporary change. Hence sudo.
.....
And welcome to LQ !

Thanks for that tip!
and thanks for the welcome! =)
Hmm... well I was under the impression that i would get the same resolution options in both vista and linux.
