Have to manually Mount Hard Drive Partitions on every boot

I have to enter the Control Panel to manually Mount missing drives on Desktop by left clicking Mount on Start Up.

I don't want to keep Mounting on each Mandriva 2009.1 startup. Any ideas what is doing this.

Did you put the drives in your fstab with the "auto" option?

Manually having to mount drives on Mandriva 2009.1 Boot up

Did you put the drives in your fstab with the "auto" option?

In answer I just went into the Hardware of the Control Panel using Root password and ticked the option to allow Write to Hard Drive for everyone, this automatically ticked several boxes. What do you mean by fstab with the auto option?

Sorry, I'm more of a command line junkie. :D

There's a file called /etc/fstab. It contains all your mount points for partitions and whatnot. There's a column where you can specify options and for things that should be mounted every time you boot, you enter the option "auto" as one of the options.

Your graphical tool probably has a similar "check box", but since I haven't ever used Mandriva you may have to search for it a bit. Or you can post your /etc/fstab file and we can help you modify it to auto mount at boot time.

I have solved the problem, this is what I did:

With the root password I entered the Mandriva 2009.1 Control Panel and left clicked on Hardware.
Next I used their Run config tool.

After selecting a partition, I clicked on Toggle to expert mode and got the expert mode option list. I then Unmounted the drive.

Next I left clicked the Options button and ticked the box unmask=0 Give write access to ordinary users, the other boxes have no ticks in them.

Next I left clicked on Advanced and typed in the word Auto, and left clicked OK. I then left clicked Mount to re-mount the drive and restarted Mandriva.

I found I could now Paste into a folder in that particular Drive partition.
